Rehearsals and Repertoire
Rehearsals are held every Wednesday from 10.00-12.00 during the normal school terms. They take place at Mid Herts Centre for Music & Arts, Birchwood Avenue, Hatfield, AL10 0PS. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed and we have a coffee break halfway through.
Our annual schedule involves different events including school performances, come-and-play events, sectional rehearsals, sessions with guest soloists, and end-of-term play through sessions.
We primarily focus on late classical and early romantic works, with occasional smaller modern pieces mixed in. Each term we work on four or five different pieces. Normally these consist of a symphony, a concerto, a suite, and some lighter works from musical theatre, film, or TV. Each week we work on two or three of our pieces and the rehearsal schedule is published in advance.
See below for some examples of our recent repertoire.
